Wet Wipes Manufacturing Process

Published On: March 17, 2025

Wet wipes have been widely used in personal care, household cleaning, healthcare, and other fields due to their convenience and versatility. From simple cleaning wipes to disinfectant wipes and baby wipes, their types and uses are constantly enriched. As market demand grows, the production process of wipes has become more efficient and automated. The manufacturing process of wipes not only ensures that the product is clean and hygienic but also controls key aspects such as humidity, packaging, and preservation to ensure the quality and safety of the final product.

Wet Wipes Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process of wipes involves several steps, including raw material preparation, wipes molding, liquid addition, cutting and folding, packaging, and sealing. Firstly, the manufacturer selects high-quality non-woven fabrics as the base material of the wipes. The material of the non-woven fabrics determines the water absorbency and softness of the wipes. Next, on a fully automated production line, the wipes substrate is cut to a set size and folded into a form suitable for packaging. The prepared liquid (usually containing water, moisturizer, detergent, or disinfectant) is then sprayed evenly onto the wipes, ensuring that each wipe contains the right amount of liquid without being too wet or too dry.

After completing the wetting process, the wipes move on to the packaging. Depending on the type of product, the wipes can be sold in individual packs or multipacks. During the packaging process, the machine automatically stacks the wipes and feeds them into a sealed packaging machine. High-quality wet wipe packaging not only needs to have good sealing to prevent evaporation of liquid but also needs to be easy to tear for consumer convenience. In addition, to extend shelf life, many manufacturers add preservatives to the package to prevent microbial contamination. The entire process is fully automated to reduce human contact, thereby increasing production efficiency and ensuring hygiene and safety.

As consumers become more concerned about health and the environment, the wipes manufacturing industry is constantly upgrading and optimizing its production processes. For example, more and more manufacturers are using biodegradable non-woven fabrics to reduce the impact on the environment, while optimizing the liquid formulation of wipes to reduce chemical additives and improve safety. In addition, the application of intelligent production lines makes the production of wipes more efficient and less costly, while ensuring stable product quality.
